Here, children and teenagers play Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn. “Den mangfaldige scenen” will stage excerpts from A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Nordberg String Orchestra will play well-known melodies such as the Wedding March, several Songs Without Words, the last movement of Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet with dance, and even a movement from Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in D minor. The whole concert will be woven together to create a story about the siblings Fanny and Felix.

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy; The 19th Century’s Mozart? With Tore Linné Eriksen - IN NORWEGIAN
We will be taken on a journey through Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's short life in Tore Linné Eriksen’s pre-concert talk; from child prodigy, to romanticist, pianist and composer in all genres. Linné Eriksen will look at how his works were received in his own time and how they have survived the years following his early death. We are in safe hands with the historian Tore Linné Eriksen, Professor Emeritus, and non-fiction author.

This film is a revealing exploration of Fanny's brilliance, full of deeply resonant themes about women in music – and indeed anyone excluded from music. It is imaginatively narrated by filmmaker Sheila Hayman, who is a direct descendant of Fanny. And the film has another captivating dimension: at its heart is a quest. Since the manuscript appeared in Paris in 1972, the Easter Sonata has been attributed to Felix Mendelssohn. But Sheila has followed a small sisterhood of Fanny obsessives who are determined to prove that the Easter Sonata was actually written by Fanny. This is a story that features stuffy foes, elusive evidence, gorgeous music, mysterious missing pages and finally, the truth.
With an introduction by the film's director Sheila Hayman
